I feel like I have improved a lot during this quarter doing this class. I have a better understanding of all the tools and what they do and the keyboard short cuts for them. I have a really good grasp of Photoshop now and I can make cool little things pretty fast using things like the quick masking tool and such, this shows in the progression of my how to make a sandwhich item to my newest thing in Photoshop which is Giorno meets his dad which is currently in my works tab. I use to be very confused with the whole concept of layer masks and having to select the vector mask to clean up the lines and such but today making that I blew through it cleaning up the lines fast and being happy with the overall product I produced. That being said I haven't mastered Photoshop because the assignment "double exposure" has me really confused because I do not understand some of the steps in the video so I get quite confused. It really sucks not being able to work on items at home because I feel like it would be super helpful to me. Now I will be talking about illustrator. I like this app a lot but it still does not come close to the aforementioned Photoshop. It is quite fun in the fact of how simplistic it is. The badges assignment was fun because all that was needed to make something was the shape builder tool and shapes. Summary, I feel like I have improved quite a bit but I definitely still have a few flaws I need to work on, I like this class a lot and I am learning a lot while taking it.

Hollow knight is a amazing game filled to the brim with content seeing as it is an indie game with a limited amount of resources and developers. The game puts you in with a short cut scene and gives you only the basics you need to help you survive and your adventure through Hollow Nest, The game was very fun to play because I had beaten blood born before they both had things in common. It was another hard combat platforming game where you would have to go through and kill a bunch of enemies and then a boss, except for once you die you go back to your last bench you rested on you lose all of your money and you have to get your soul back, also after dying depending on what charms you were using some of them can permanently break. Your soul would fight you and so would the enemies around you this was a good mechanic in the game but very infuriating if you died in a boss room and you had to fight it there because if you die without getting your soul back all your Geo(money) is gone for good. The story and lore in this game is truly amazing but it is quite hard to understand because of this games lack of cut scenes everything is in hidden areas or backdrops or during boss fights and I was defiantly lost until I watched a few YouTube videos about it but that made the community for this game all the better with people analyzing everything that happens to get the bigger picture and speaking of big i'm gonna start talking about the world of Hollow Nest. Hollow Nest is very huge uncovering its map slowly as the player gets more and more into the game by purchasing maps from an NPC who hides around the map which can be heard by his subtle humming melody, that tells you that everything will be ok and that you wont be lost anymore until you reach the next area. The areas are huge with each one having a different array of foes with different moves and abilities. Its visuals are very good with immersive things that make the characters look like they belong in the game all the animations are very very smooth in my 20 hours of the game I have never seen a bug or glitch that breaks immersion. Overall this game is definitely a must play for anyone who is a fan of the game genre.
What I think can be done more efficiently using vector images instead of bitmaps is using it for things like logos for companies. What is nice about it are the tools given by adobe illustrator are things like making the perfect circles by holding shift while using the ellipse tool which makes the thing look a lot better. The only other thing I can think of vector images being used for is logos as mentioned earlier in this post. It really looks good there because you can get them symmetrical easier, as well as making them have minimal blur in the image so they also appear a lot more clear in the finished product. Vector images also always come out finished as clear and nice products with minimal blur in it.In my opinion I like to use bitmap images over vector images because using a bitmap format means I can work in Photoshop which I enjoy working in a lot more than Adobe illustrator. Using bitmap formatting also lets me work with a larger array of colors witch makes me happier because putting lots of little colors in an image in my opinion is better then having a few solid color areas blotched around the image. Adding more color in gives the photo more life which makes a piece a lot better because it makes me feel like I have more to do, while working with vector graphs its just pit some color here and here and you are ok.
So in summary -Vector graphs are used to make things like logos for companies -I like bitmaps more for the chance to use more color in my image. |
